Leaf and Me

The environment is beautiful, vast, magical... dying. I have lived on the everglades since I was a baby and the wonders of life emerge from the river of grass never cease to amaze and excite me. My love grew as I experienced nature in its unkept form. I traveled to see vast forests in the land of the thunder dragon, quiet oasis's in Isreal's deserts and unique ecosystems in the isolated islands of the Galapagos. Over the past decades human civilization has decimated our fundimental means of survival. Humanity has mentally and emotionally disconnected itself from nature, seeing it as a simple resource rather than a secret garden. It saddens me.  I see the destruciton of the environment in all its forms accompanied with an ever growing dread.  I feel so connected to the nature around me. We are human and human's are inherently animals. Why shouldn't I feel an innate bond with the wild. My project is meant to display my love of nature and desire to be close to it, contradicted by my nature as a human being.
